What a BOQ calculation looks like
Each BOQ line prices one scope item by multiplying the quantity by its unit rate:
Line Total = Quantity × Unit Rate
The grand total is the sum of every line total, which becomes the base for your quotation before adding markup, VAT, or contingency.
120 m³ of excavation at $8/m³ = $960. 45 m³ of foundation concrete at $95/m³ = $4,275. 300 m² of blockwork at $14/m² = $4,200. Grand total: $9,435.
